Reflected trains
I had an idea for a competition entry about landscape and means of transport; every night I drive past the millpond and see trains reflected in the water so I had a go at taking these one weekend evening. The problem is that big green fence all the way across and I am not going to be able to lose that while keeping the water.

Millhouses mill pond
I went to the mill pond behind the Industrial Hamlet to get some images of the trains reflecting in the water. The sky clouded over but I did get some good shots of the old mill buildings while there was some sun for a strong reflection. Out of these I constructed an HDR using Photomatix; this looks like a stereotypical HDR image with the colours looking artificial. This was taken with a Sony A100 with a Sigma 10-20mm lens.

Here is one of the source images for comparison.

Damflask again
Beautiful sunny day with a good breeze so perfect for going to Damflask again to take pictures of the boat club. Different viewpoint this time so I could get a better angle on the sailors as they went round their course.
This was processed in Lightroom 3 using the built-in Adobe Lens Correction filter for the 70-300mm Nikon F4.5-5.6G lens and the Adobe profile for the D300. These two simple settings made the image much sharper I think.

A friend asked me to print some photos for his cafe on Ecclesall Road in Sheffield so I went round and agreed a layout with him; while I was there I also took some shots in and around the cafe and this is my pick of those.
Don’t forget - visit Hulleys Cafe at 736 Ecclesall Road !

Went down to the city centre to look for ideas in the winter light after a bitterly cold but very clear day. I like the lights reflecting in the water and there is a contrast behind the old(er) side of the city on the right with some of the new build on the left.
